WashU will cover the cost of your roundtrip travel to and from campus, along with housing meals during your stay.
Explore your interests
During this three-day program, you’ll engage in deeper exploration of an academic area of interest (Arts & Sciences, Business, Engineering, or PreMed) while experiencing campus life and our vibrant community!
You will:
- Learn about the resources and support available to first-generation and limited-income students.
- Spend three days (two nights) on our beautiful campus and get a taste of college life.
- Explore St. Louis and take in some of our favorite sites.
- Gain expert guidance on sharing your story as part of your college application.
- Meet current students, accomplished alumni, and faculty leading in their fields.
WashU FLI-In dates
You should choose the program that best suits your academic interest on the application. For each program, you will travel to campus on the first day of the program and stay overnight the first two nights. On the third day, you will participate in an Academic Theme Day with other prospective students.
Explore WashU’s Olin Business School. Discover our unique opportunities, experiential thinking, and collaborative culture.
You will fly in to St. Louis on Wednesday, June 25, and fly out on Friday, June 27.
On Friday, you will participate in an Academic Theme Day with other prospective students. Activities on that day will include a campus tour, an Admissions & Aid group information session, and additional Business programming.
Explore WashU’s McKelvey School of Engineering. Learn what the engineering experience is like at WashU and how it can it can expand your lifelong opportunities.
You will fly in to St. Louis on Wednesday, July 9, and fly out on Friday, July 11.
On Friday, you will participate in an Academic Theme Day with other prospective students. Activities on that day will include a campus tour, an Admissions & Aid group information session, and additional Engineering programming.
Explore WashU’s PreHealth programs. Learn how students are prepared for success in the application process for medical and other professional schools.
You will fly in to St. Louis on Wednesday, July 16, and fly out on Friday, July 18.
On Friday, you will participate in an Academic Theme Day with other prospective students. Activities on that day will include a campus tour, an Admissions & Aid group information session, and additional PreHealth programming.

You will fly in to St. Louis on Wednesday, July 23, and fly out on Friday, July 25.
On Friday, you will participate in an Academic Theme Day with other prospective students. Activities on that day will include a campus tour, an Admissions & Aid group information session, and additional Arts & Sciences programming.
Apply for WashU FLI-In
Applications must be complete and submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on May 23, 2025.
Eligibility:
- WashU FLI-In is an application-based program open to rising high school seniors (graduating in spring 2026) who reside in the U.S. or U.S. territories.
- We will give preference to students who are the first generation in your family to attend college or come from a limited-income household.
How to Apply:
As part of the application, you will need to:
- Respond to a short-answer question about your academic area of interest (200-word count).
- Submit a copy of your transcript or a list of courses and grades showing completed coursework through first semester of junior year.
- Submit a list of confirmed or expected senior year coursework.
- Recommended supplemental materials include a school profile and resume.
Applicants will be notified of their decision by June 6, 2025. Students who are not selected will still be able to register for an Academic Theme Day.
What expenses are covered for WashU FLI-In attendees?
WashU will cover the cost of your roundtrip air travel for attendees between WashU and the major airport closest to your home, transportation to and from St. Louis Lambert International Airport and the WashU Danforth Campus, overnight accommodations, and meals while on campus. While we will cover the cost of travel, you will be responsible for transportation to and from your home airport and any baggage fees the airline may charge.
If you’re traveling by car to St. Louis, we will reimburse you for the mileage of a roundtrip visit from your home address to WashU. The IRS standard mileage rate is currently 70 cents per mile. Reimbursement will cover cost up to that of a roundtrip flight from your nearest airport.
You are encouraged to bring some spending money for any personal purchases you may wish to make, such as gifts for yourself or your family.
