Academic and career advising
From day one, you’ll be connected with an academic advisor, who will:
- Help you sort through the options to build a successful academic plan that takes you where you want to go
- Work with you on the broad issues of academic planning
- Advise you on the semester-by-semester details of course selection
Student advising
You can also turn to fellow students known as WashU Student Associates (WUSAs). These junior and senior class leaders can answer questions you have about academic deadlines and policies, resources available, and making the transition to college.
Career advising
Wherever you are on your career journey, the Center for Career Engagement is here to support you. WashU offers career support to all students and alumni! You won’t lose access to our career support after graduation.

Additional support resources
Center for Teaching and Learning
The Learning Center offers support services to help you succeed academically. You’ll have access to academic mentoring programs and structured assistance to improve essential note-taking and study skills, time management, and productivity.
Disability Resources
Disability Resources (DR) is the official resource for students at WashU who have disabilities or suspected disabilities. DR assists students individually by providing guidance and determining reasonable accommodations to remove barriers to access.
Office for International Student Engagement
The Office for International Student Engagement (OISE) supports international students during their time at WashU by providing a welcoming environment through programming, advocacy and cultural enrichment. Students should visit the Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) for all things related to their immigration status.
The Speaking Studio
The Speaking Studio, a service of The Writing Center, provides free, one-on-one tutoring for any member of the WashU community for any public speaking project.
Student Technology Services
Student Technology Services (STS) provides technical support for all residential computing labs and for most of your personal computing devices. STS offers a variety of technical services as well as student programs, both online and in person. STS also provides a walk-up help desk, located in the storefront of Gregg Hall on the South 40.
WashU Libraries
Libraries, books, and online resources are essential to your undergraduate education. WashU maintains a multifaceted library system with more than 4.3 million books, periodical volumes, audiovisual titles, and government publications, plus extensive collections of literary manuscripts, rare books, and other materials.
WashU Tech Den
The Tech Den provides IT services to the WashU community, with a focus on non-residential and graduate/professional students.
The Writing Center
The Writing Center works with you on essays, senior theses, personal statements, oral presentations, and more. You are welcome at all different stages of the writing process, from brainstorming all the way to the later drafts. The Writing Center also offers a peer tutoring program if you’re interested in helping others with the craft of writing.
