About WashU

Academics

WashU is a community of passionate learners with a wide array of interests. With more than 1,900 undergraduate courses across more than 100 fields of study, students can find their perfect academic fit.

When applying to WashU, students will select one of our schools to serve as their academic home base. These schools are the College of Arts & Sciences, Olin Business School, McKelvey School of Engineering, and Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts (College of Architecture and College of Art). All WashU students are welcome and encouraged to explore courses in any of these schools, regardless of which they selected at the time of application, and students can even declare majors or minors in multiple schools! 80% of undergraduate students pursue multiple majors and/or minors, so you’ll find that each WashU student has a unique academic path.

Applications

At WashU, we understand that each student is so much more than just their GPA. When considering applications, we use a holistic review process to learn about what makes each student unique. In learning each student’s story, we can make the most informed admissions decisions to continue building a compassionate and academically curious community.

A few other notes about our application process:

  • WashU is currently test-optional, meaning students are not required to submit ACT or SAT scores.
  • We offer application fee waivers for all students who are applying for need-based
